South Carolina

So, here's where you get your Civil War History (or War Between the States as Bubba, my tour guide, explained to me). By the way, Bubba means 'brother' down here.

This is Fort Sumter, in Charleston's harbor, where the first shots of the Civil war were actually shot. The two opposing commanders were best friends and Beauregard allowed the Yankees to 'evacuate' rather than surrender so that his friend wouldn't get killed. The only death occurred during the 50 gun salute as they were leaving when a canon exploded and shredded a private.

Here is where I want to live after I win the lottery. They watched the Fort Sumter battle from the third balcony. It sold for 10 million a couple of years ago.

The whole city of Charleston is just beautiful and filled with a feeling of lushness.

Enough history, lets get to Myrtle Beach for some sun.

Wildlife count - Coyote in Florida, big black buzzards in Georgia and dolphins in South Carolina.
