Last days of summer

The last days of summer are here and I've been getting out as much as possible.

Had a great whole day at the PNE. Shockingly expensive nowadays...$20 to get in unless you buy your ticket online for $16.50.

Highlights were the pig races (little buggers are faster than you would think), the lumberjack show (not as good as the old competion days but still pretty entertaining), Dal Richards and his orchestra (92 years old and still enthusiastically putting two shows on a day at the PNE), The Peking Acrobats (worth waiting in line for) and the marketplace building where we saw all kinds of home appliance demonstrations...those knives really are sharp.

Ate mini-donuts ($5 now but just as delicious)and drank lemonade (the cheapest thing to drink at $3). Brought the $5 cotton candy home. Must recommend the fish and chips at Sea Lovers.





Rented bikes and did the Stanley Park seawall. Had a lovely bruised bum the next day but it was totally worth it. We went with Bayshore rentals on Denman ($18 for 4 hours) and they were great but discovered that other companies rent the cruiser bikes with the big fat seats on them for a little more money...next time I'll go for the comfort.

The new bike/walk path all along coal harbor is great.
